Inspiration Alcona has two regular writing programs for adults.
The first, which draws artists of all skill levels the weekend of the Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day holiday, is the annual Lost Lake Writers Retreat. Advance registration is required. Teachers are multiply-published authors with proven teaching skills. Participants come not only from Michigan, but also from other states.
The second, designed for aspiring writers who live in or near Alcona County, is the Alcona Authors meeting. Former Detroit Free Press editor Will St. John leads this inexpensive exploration designed mostly for people without significant experience.
