Kelly Fordon is a Detroit-area poet, writer and teacher who has published the prize-winning chapbooks "On the Street Where We Live" and "The Witness," the novel in stories "Garden for the Blind" (a Michigan Notable Book), the full-length 2019 poetry book "Goodbye Toothless House" and the 2020 short story collection "I Have the Answer."
In the 13 stories of "I have the Answer," wrote Kirkus Reviews, "Fordon explores the often surreal nature of suburban life, usually through the perplexing and aggravating relationships formed between family members, friends, and neighbors. The author’s prose is exact and knife-sharp, slicing to the soft center of her characters’ afflictions." Kelly teaches regularly for Springfed Arts as well as the College for Creative Studies and the InsideOut Literary Arts Project in Detroit. She also hosts the podcast "Let's Deconstruct a Story," in which she interviews short story writers about one of their works. For more about Kelly, see her website, kellyfordon.com. |
