Amy Rigby

In his review of Amy Rigby's 2019 memoir "Girl to City," guitarist-writer Lenny Kaye wrote that Amy "is as important a figure in music as Patti Smith or Laura Nyro, a female presence capable of pulling you in to her world through her music, and captivating you to stay with every glistening syllable." (Lenny is Patti Smith's longtime guitarist in the Patti Smith Group.)

Amy left her hometown of Pittsburgh in 1976 to join the New York music scene. After stints in a few bands, she broke out with the 1976 album "Diary of a Mod Housewife."

Since then she has released seven more critically acclaimed albums and become an active blogger. She lives in New York state with her musician husband Eric Goulden, who has performed as Wreckless Eric since his 1977 hit "Whole Wide World."
