Music and Dance

Inspiration Alcona's most prominent regularly scheduled music event is the Alcona GospelFest, an ecumenical and cultural program held on a Saturday after Easter. The event includes an afternoon learning session for the mass choir, an evening meal for the singers and the public and the free public concert that night.

Another regular highlight is the weekly Dockside Jams, held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. During the cool months, the open-mic sessions are held at the Dockside Cafe in downtown Harrisville. During the summer season, the jams move to the open-air pavilion above Harrisville harbor. For the latter, bring a lawn chair or blanket.

We also produce other concerts and dances each year, often partnering with another local group. In 2017 Inspiration Alcona sponsored a performance of "Forever Yours: A Live Musical Tribute to Patsy Cline," which was a benefit for the newly re-formed Alcona Community Schools band. In other years we've held Contra dances, cosponsored Valentine dances, produced several concerts and even ballet performances. Recently we've been a cosponsor of the new Lost Lake Music Festival, an annual August event.

Check the events page for other, smaller music-related programs.
