Inspiration Alcona's first annual music event was the Alcona GospelFest, an ecumenical and cultural program usually held on a Saturday soon after Easter. The event includes an afternoon learning session for the choir and a free public concert that night. The program resumed after covid restrictions in November 2022. The next event will be held in April 2024.
Harbor Nights Concerts, 11 free summer concerts at the open-air pavilion above Harrisville Harbor featuring professional musicians, returns for 2023. The fun runs 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, beginning with a short set from a local musician. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. The first concert is June 16.
Another regular highlight is the weekly open mic program, Dockside Jams, held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays starting in June each year, also at the open-air pavilion above Harrisville harbor. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to listen, or your instrument and voice if you want to perform. The series continues indoors in cold weather (or rain) at the Harrisville Arts Council building, 112 N. Third, Harrisville. This program is cosponsored by the Alcona Music Project and the arts council.
Recently we've been a cosponsor of the Sunrise Side Music Festival, an annual event scheduled for August 12 in 2023. This country music presentation starts at noon at Lost Lake Woods Club.
We also produce other concerts and dances each year, often partnering with another local group. In 2017 Inspiration Alcona sponsored a performance of "Forever Yours: A Live Musical Tribute to Patsy Cline," which was a benefit for the newly re-formed Alcona Community Schools band. In other years we've held Contra dances, cosponsored Valentine dances, produced several individual concerts and even sponsored ballet performances.
