Grand Art

Fourth- and fifth-grade kids mix with senior citizens to enjoy an afternoon of fun art projects and dinner on most school Fridays at the Lincoln Senior Center, located near Alcona Elementary School.

Because of covid restrictions, this program is currently running without the older participants and at the school rather than the senior center. The usual model will resume as soon as it is safe for everyone.

● Inspiration Alcona pays for the teacher, all materials and dinner for the kids.
● Alcona Community Schools provides the bus that takes the kids to the senior center and sends along a paraprofessional who helps supervise the kids.
● The senior center provides grandparents or volunteer grandparents to assist the kids (or just do the project for themselves) and serves dinner.
● The Harrisville Arts Council gives a substantial donation to Inspiration Alcona to help make the program possible.

The kids arrive for the first day of Grand Art in September 2018.
Suzan Krey, left, then director of the senior center, works with the kids on an early drawing project.
The kids and seniors made Halloween monsters in October 2019.
