At the Alcona Arts Retreat, Laura will teach a class called "Order out of Chaos," which begins with underpaintings on watercolor paper and Yupo using watercolor or fluid acrylics. While still wet, texture is added using a variety of materials and the underpaintings are allowed to dry. Images are created by painting the space around the subjects with opaque watermedia. More layers of color and texture are added to better define areas. The images on this page are done with this technique.
Laura is one of the founders of Lawrence Street Gallery, located on Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, where she exhibits continuously. This cooperative gallery is in its 33rd year. Laura is also past president and active member of the Michigan Water Color Society. See more of Laura's work at laurawhitesideshost.com. All levels of experience. Class limit is 9 students to abide by state covid-19 rules. This class is already full, but a waiting list is being maintained. Should the rules relax by the time of the retreat, the class limit will be 16. |
