The library and Inspiration Alcona are bringing this Michigan author to talk about his latest nonfiction book, "Terror in the City of Champions." In this work, Tom Stanton reveals the secret society that used murder and terror to try to control Detroit during the years when all the city's sports teams — and boxer Joe Louis — were winning almost every title available.

Tom has written four other nonfiction books, all about baseball, including the critically praised "The Final Season," about the last year the Detroit Tigers played at Tiger Stadium. He was an award-winning journalist for thirty years and now teaches journalism at the University of Detroit Mercy.
