Anne-Marie Oomen

Memoir writer

Anne-Marie Oomen is a Michigan native who grew up in rural Oceana County. Her three memoirs, "Pulling Down the Barn," a Michigan Notable Book; "House of Fields," (also a Michigan Notable Book, and "Love, Sex and 4-H," winner of the Next Generation Indie Award for memoir, describe aspects of her youth there.

She is an instructor at Solstice MFA at Pine Manor College in Massachusetts and at the Interlochen College of Creative Arts. 

She has also published "An American Map: Essays" and the poetry collection "Uncoded Woman." (Milkweed Editions). She is the founding editor of the Dunes Review, a literary magazine published biannually by Michigan Writers Inc.

Anne-Marie has also written seven plays, including "Secrets of Luuce Talk Tavern," winner of the 2012 Community Theatre Association of Michigan playwriting contest.
