The 2018 Lost Lake Writers Retreat will be directed by John D. Lamb of Springfed Arts, another 501(c)3 nonprofit that has held weekly writing classes in the metro Detroit area for two decades. Teachers this year are poets Cecilia Woloch, Kathleen McGookey and Jack Ridl, novelists Jacquelyn Mitchard and Michael Zadoorian, and singer-songwriter Emily Rose. The  retreat will begin with an appetizers, wine and beer party at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 4.  Friday and Saturday will be learning and writing time. Sunday we'll all gather for a farewell brunch, followed by a final reading by participants. Your tuition includes all of these. By midafternoon Sunday, students will be able to head for home. See the schedule below for the 2017 retreat as an example; a similar schedule is likely for 2018.

Participant options run from tuition only to a package that includes a private room, breakfast and lunch Friday and Saturday, and all the retreat events. Check prices through the How to Enroll page button below.

As part of the third annual Lake Huron Discovery Tour, which runs Friday through Monday of the same weekend, Inspiration Alcona and other groups plan to host events nearby, so there will be things to do if you want to bring a spouse or the whole family. See the details about these other events through the www.US23HeritageRoute.org website as the date grows nearer. Information about the Discovery Tour will grow throughout the year as other groups make their plans.
