Autumn Bildson, who recently moved to Alcona County from downstate, has clients throughout the state of Michigan. Many of her pieces reside in homes or businesses in, such areas as Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Sterling Heights, Traverse City, Grosse Pointe, and Lansing.
She also sculpts for The Parade Company, creating float characters and the famous giant heads for Detroit's annual Thanksgiving parade.
Autumn has a wide breadth of approaches, including everything from stone or bronze sculptures to murals or portrait paintings. At the Alcona Arts Retreat, Autumn will teach students how to work in Rigid Wrap, a plaster-impregnated cloth that can be cut with scissors, wet and applied to an inner core, then shaped as if it were ordinary plaster. Using this method means that students can expect to go home with a completed three-dimensional project. See the slides below to see how the process goes. Slide 6 above is the final product from the process slides below.
In addition to creating her own work, Autumn teaches private lessons, youth workshops and adult classes.
