2017 Summer Art for Youth

Weekly sessions all summer long
10 a.m. Tuesdays
no class August 22
June 21 - August 29, 2017
EMS Station Public Room

Talented local artists will teach lessons to schoolchildren of all ages each week through the summer. These lessons are free, and all materials needed will be supplied to the students.

Planned lessons begin with three weeks of basic drawing techniques given by the founder of this program, Joe Jenny. In later weeks, Ellen LaCrosse will teach acrylic painting, Kathryn Cubalo and Carol Preuss will teach pastels, and Jody Schletzler will teach watercolor painting. A high school art student will be an assistant at every lesson. Teachers will have granola-bar snacks available to get the kids through the morning. All instructors have passed criminal background checks.

Students may join a class at any meeting, but the best experience would come from regular attendance.

The EMS station public room is a well-lit, open space with room for lots of students. Restrooms adjoin the space and a water fountain is just outside the public room. EMTs and dispatchers will be on duty during classes, as they are at all times.
