Paint Your Own Masterpiece
Give everyone in the family an art break during the Lake Huron Discovery Tour. In less than an hour, each person traveling with you can create a piece of artwork to take home and show off. Simple enough for kids, interesting enough for older kids at heart, this is an excellent, inexpensive way to put extra fun into the course you've charted for the Discovery Tour. Among the things to be painted are squiggly lizards for the youngest, treasure boxes for everyone with stuff to store, and canvasses ready to be painted with fall leaves and dreamcatcher images.
Visit Inspiration Alcona and CobbyGoose artists at Harbortown Marketplace, 410 E Main in downtown Harrisville, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. October 10. Turn east off US-23 at the only stoplight in Alcona County, then look for the Inspiration Alcona banner outside the marketplace, on your right opposite the grocery store.
And don't forget to stop at the Dragonfly Gallery as you pass to or from the painting site. Artists will be outdoors and indoors on both sides of the street, featuring a real birchbark canoe and other nature-based work handmade by artist Jim Miller.
